Fans of slasher movies and scary clowns, rejoice! Fango is very proud to reveal that Frendo the Clown will indeed return to the silver screen. Temple Hill Entertainment is officially producing a sequel to last year’s horror/comedy Clown in a Cornfield, based on the novel series by author Adam Cesare. Once again sticking close to the source material, the sequel will be titled Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives.

So, what do we know about the sequel so far? We’re glad you asked! Clown In A Cornfield 2 is shooting later this year. Temple Hill is producing the follow-up, which takes the first film's Final Girl, Quinn Maybrook, to college where she will learn some of America's cruelest lessons. The sequel will be written by Hudson Morgan and Will Lowell, who have written scripts that've appeared on the Black List, in addition to selling several TV shows and feature film projects.
The first movie was directed by Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) and co-written by Carter Blanchard. It remains to be seen whether or not Craig will return to the director’s chair. Craig is currently attached to direct the holiday horror flick White Elephant. If not Craig, all eyes will shift towards who will take over for him at the helm.
Either way, this is stellar news for fans of the genre. Clown in a Cornfield was one of 2025’s true gems and, very thankfully, Cesare has several novels to fuel this franchise for a good while if the audience is there for it. While an official synopsis for the movie hasn’t been revealed, the synopsis for Cesare’s novel reads as follows:
“After barely making it out of the Kettle Springs cornfields alive, Quinn’s first year away at college should be safe and easy. All she wants is to be normal again.
But instead, Quinn finds that her past won’t leave her alone when she becomes the focus of online conspiracy theories that claim the Kettle Springs Massacre never happened. It’s a deranged but relentless fantasy, and there’s nothing Quinn can do to get people to hear the truth—not even on her own campus or in her own dorm room.
So when a murderous clown attacks Quinn at a frat party while another goes after her father in Kettle Springs at the same time, Quinn realizes that the facts alone are never going to save her. Her only option is to go back into the cornfields, back where the nightmare began, to set the record straight the only way she knows how. Because when the truth gets lost in the lies, that’s when people start to die.”
Quinn was played by Katie Douglas in the first movie. It stands to reason that she’ll be back to once again fend off some killer clowns. No cast members have been confirmed at this time.
Clown in a Cornfield lowkey killed it at the box office, taking in nearly $14 million against a mere $1 million production budget. It was later released on the horror streaming service Shudder. The numbers being what they are, it’s not remotely surprising that Temple Hill is rolling the dice on a sequel. With filming taking place this year, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it in theaters sometime in 2027.
Meanwhile, Cesare is continuing the franchise in novel form as well. Lights! Camera! Frendo!, the 4th novel in the Clown in a Cornfield series, which sees Frendo going to Hollywood, releases in hardcover, audiobook and ebook on August 18. It follows in the footsteps of 2023’s Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frend.
Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives doesn’t have a release date but stay tuned.
