As Raindance Film Festival continues to expand its genre offerings, including dedicated horror programming, it’s bringing a scream queen into the fold to help that happen. They’ve just announced that Catherine Corcoran has been named the festival’s Official Horror Ambassador, in partnership with her company FareStream Pictures, which will help champion the initiative as it reveals new awards and programming.
According to Raindance, Corcoran and her company will “help spotlight the festival’s growing horror initiative to amplify the festival’s genre presence through filmmaker advocacy, industry conversations, editorial initiatives and audience engagement, further strengthening Raindance’s position as a home for bold independent genre storytelling.”
“Independent horror has always thrived by creating community first,” says Corcoran. “Raindance has spent decades championing fearless filmmakers and queer artists and I’m honored to help expand a platform that celebrates voices redefining the genre.”

Corcoran’s appointment as ambassador comes just shortly after the founding of FareStream, which is dedicated to operating safe sets, with intimacy coordinators made available when necessary, as well as transparent accounting in order to ensure everyone gets their fair share. The company currently has a few projects in the works, including By His Hand, an adaptation of William R. Perry’s novel currently in pre-production, to be directed by Halloween’s Scout Taylor-Compton. They’re also adapting Julia Bartz’s novel The Writing Retreat, as well as an untitled film from writer-director Jackson Stewart, and the series Hera, a reimagining of Greek myth with Corcoran serving as creator and lead writer.
Meanwhile, Raindance introduced the Roger Corman Award for Best Horror Feature this year, as they introduce a slate of international and domestic films from all across the genre, including the US features Corporate Retreat, Friday the 69th, and The Killing Moon, as well as New Zealand’s Broken Beak, the UK’s Modem, and more.
Raindance Film Festival runs from June 17-26 in London. For more information, you can check out their website.
