Following release late last month, Resident Evil Requiem has already become the best-performing Resident Evil game of all time, with global sales surpassing five million copies after five days. It should come as no surprise then that Capcom already has extras in the works.

In an official announcement uploaded to Instagram earlier today (seen below), Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed that the ninth mainline entry in the iconic survival horror gaming series will be getting further updates, including a “surprise mini game” coming in May, and an additional story expansion that will “delve deeper into the world of Requiem”.

Launched on February 27 for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, Resident Evil Requiem is set 30 years after a missile strike destroys Raccoon City, and follows both investigate reporter Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Resident Evil Outbreak‘s Alyssa Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy, franchise favorite and star of Resident Evil 2, 4 and more. The game focuses on a series of mysterious deaths related to the Raccoon City incident, and Leon and Grace personally.

No spoilers here, but the ending of Requiem certainly added a lot of new lore to the Resident Evil universe that is ripe for exploration in a story expansion. Fans are also already speculating that the new DLC will put an end to the rumors surrounding Leon's wedding ring, and reveal which lucky Resi lady the ex-cop might have taken for a wife.
