Being drunk is all fun and games โ until it makes you the only one who can save everyone. Deadline reports that Joe Lynchโs new film, Buzzkill, has found its leads in Billy Magnussen and Becky star Lulu Wilson, teaming up against a hoard of creatures people can only see when theyโre blasted.
According to Deadline, the film โ which is set to shoot next spring in Texas, follows Magnussen as โrecently widowed and recovering alcoholic Sheriff Red, who launches an investigation as locals begin turning up murdered and dismembered one by one, discovering that the monster feeds on the blood alcohol content of its victims. With the annual brewery festival fast approaching, the whole town is about to get wasted. Red must face his demons and pick up the bottle one last time to take down the monster and save his town for good.โ Wilson co-stars as Redโs โvengeful little sisterโ Lydia.
Buzzkill is being produced by Cole and Dane Eckerle, alongside Jonathan Schwartz and Nick Shumaker for Anonymous Content, David Levine, Anne Hollister, Shane Andries, and Magnussen.
โColin has crafted a story thatโs equal parts hilarious, scary and action-packed โ an entertaining romp from start to finish,โ said Dane Eckerle. โJoe Lynchโs track record and ability to create high-octane genre chaos makes him the perfect filmmaker for the job. Add our stars, Billy and Lulu, plus our partners at Anonymous Content and The Veterans โ and we couldnโt think of a better team to be brewing this movie alongside.โ
Buzzkill will be Lynchโs first feature film since 2023โs Suitable Flesh, starring Barbara Crampton and Heather Graham, and his first directing effort since last yearโs Tales From the Void. The horror comedy joins his ever-expanding backlog of films, a list which also includes Mayhem and Chillerama.
No release date has been announced for Buzzkill. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates as they arrive.
