The seventh season of Netflix's dystopian sci-fi horror series Black Mirror gets a first teaser today, previewing six new mind-bending episodes including a sequel to the fourth season opener “USS Callister”.
Netflix also announced that Black Mirror Season 7 will hit the streamer on April 10.
Season 7's stacked cast includes Awkwafina, Milanka Brooks, Peter Capaldi, Emma Corrin, Patsy Ferran, Paul Giamatti, Lewis Gribben, Osy Ikhile, Rashida Jones, Siena Kelly, Billy Magnussen, Rosy McEwen, Cristin Milioti, Chris OโDowd, Issa Rae, Paul G. Raymond, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jimmi Simpson, Harriet Walter, Michele Austin, Ben Bailey Smith, Asim Chaudhry, Josh Finan, James Nelson-Joyce, Jay Simpson, Michael Workรฉyรจ and Black Mirror: Bandersnatch alum Will Poulter.
All the classic Black Mirror beats are in today's first trailer: we've got sinister AI, late-stage capitalist nightmares, creepy video games and all-new technologies that probably aren't out to help humanity.
And, as mentioned, we get a preview of the sequel to the fan-favorite “USS Callister” episode, which starred Jesse Plemons as Robert Daly, a game programmer who traps his co-workers (including Milioti, Magnussen, Simpson and Michaela Coel) in a virtual reality not too dissimilar to Star Trek. Netflix previously teased that, in this episode, “Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their problems are just beginning.”
Created by Charlie Brooker and inspired by The Twilight Zone, Black Mirror premiered in 2011, and has covered everything from robot bees to cloned pop stars.
