Horror may have plenty of final girls who’ve stood their ground against various monsters, but only one duo has met multiple and lived to tell the tale. Bud Abbott and Lou Costello made a name in early horror for their series of films pitting them against iconic monsters like Frankenstein and The Mummy, and now Monstrous Books is continuing the tradition with a brand new comic series.
Abbott & Costello Meet the Monsters is a three-issue series written by Bram Stoker Award winner James Aquilone, pairing the comedy duo with a series of new and unique creatures. FANGORIA is excited to reveal the cover for issue three, which features a cover by Robert Hack and interior art by Juan Samu, and sees the duo take on Cthulhu, the tentacled monster first created by H.P. Lovecraft.

But the fun doesn’t stop with that giant cosmic entity. The other two issues in the series feature The Night Stalker, a vampire character originally featured in the 1972 film of the same name, and the Morlocks, the troglodyte creatures made famous by H.G. Wells’ novel The Time Machine.
“Abbott and Costello were my introduction to horror as well as comedy,” says Aquilone. “They’ve been a huge influence on my work, and it’s unreal to be bringing my heroes back to comics in a genre that is near and dear to me — horror-comedy, which might not exist without Abbott and Costello.”
This new series is the first set of Abbott & Costello comics starring the duo in over fifty years, and each issue will also include a series of comic strips written by Aquilone and drawn by Zac Atkinson, which you can get a peek at down below. Each issue will also feature a variety of covers, including art by J.K. Woodward, Lukas Ketner, Atkinson, Russ Braun, Colton Worley, and E.V. Cantada.
