JOHN CARPENTER’S TOXIC COMMANDO Sets Release Window With New Gameplay Trailer

The co-op fps fromย Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment is now available to Wish List.

It's been a long while since we heard anything about John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, the cooperative first-person shooter game from the horror master, but Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have unleashed a new trailer, as well as confirming a release window date of early 2026.

Powered by Saberโ€™s Swarm Engine, the technology behind World War Z: Aftermath and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, John Carpenter's Toxic Commando sees gamers play in squads of up to four players with full crossplay support across PC and consoles, promising “buddy-movie vibes and the over-the-top humor, action, and horror of classic โ€˜80s cinema”:

In the near future, an experimental attempt to harness the power of the Earthโ€™s core ends in a terrifying disaster, turning soil to scum and the living to undead monsters. However, the genius behind the experiment has a plan to make things right: a team of highly trained mercenaries to get the job done. Unfortunately, they were all too expensive. Thatโ€™s why he hired THE TOXIC COMMANDO.

Previously, video game fiend Carpenter had the following to say about the upcoming shooter:

โ€œItโ€™s exciting to be collaborating on a new video game with Focus and Saber [โ€ฆ] Look, I really like shooting zombies. They keep telling me that theyโ€™re called โ€™the infected.โ€™ Please. Theyโ€™re ghouls, dude. They blow up real good and there are a ton of them. People are going to love this game.โ€

Sounds good to us! John Carpenterโ€™s Toxic Commando releases in early 2026 and is available to Wish List on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam.
