According to Variety, filming has wrapped on Trauma and is now heading into post-production. Fessenden managed to keep the mash-up a secret until now, shooting the movie in New York for three months. Now though, the cat is out of the bag. Fessenden, in addition to directing, will reprise his role as Sam from his vampire tale Habit. As for what this crossover monster fick is about? The brief logline reads as follows:
โ[Trauma] places the filmmakerโs beloved visions of this trio of ghouls under one roof, offering up an unexpectedly humanist and uncanny tale.โ
โIt was a slightly absurd mission to present my existential take on these monsters in a contemporary mash-up, but I enjoyed the challenge and I hope the film will feel both familiar and provocative,โ Fessenden said in a statement. The filmmaker also added that he is โa lifelong fan of Universal Monster classics and the powerful messages about us that they can convey.โ No doubt, this crossover does call to mind the heydays of the Universal Monsters movies.
The cast also includes Alex Breaux as Adam from the Frankenstein flick Depraved, with Alex Hurt returning as Charley from the werewolf picture Blackout to further help connect the dots. Other returning stars include Addison Timlin (Odd Thomas), James Le Gros (Hunters), John Speredakos (The House of the Devil), Cody Kostro (Mare of Easttown), Marc Senter (The Devil's Carnival), Rigo Garay (Crumb Catcher), Joseph Castillo-Midyett (Alpha/Beta), Joshua Leonard (The Blair Witch Project) and friend of Fango Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator). Newcomers include Laรซtitia Hollard (The Pitt) and Aitana Doyle (If That Mockingbird Donโt Sing)
Fessenden also serves as a producer alongside Gaby Leyner, James Felix McKenney, Tilson Allen-MerryStirling duBell and Chris Ingvordson, with Edwin Linker on board as executive producer. Lois Drabkin was in charge of casting, while Sharif El Neklawy served as the cinematographer.
