ASMR isnโt for everybody. Some find comfort in it, but others are disgusted by the idea, especially when it comes to mukbangs, where influencers eat large quantities of food in one sitting, often for othersโ enjoyment, rather than their own. And who knows whatโs in that food? For all we know, it might be something suspicious โ which is exactly the conceit behind Aimee Kugeโs new film Cannibal Mukbang, which just dropped a new clip.
The bloody new horror film stars Nate Wise, April Consalo, and Clay Von Carlowitz, and is written, directed, and produced by Kuge in her directorial debut. The filmโs logline is as follows:
Shy and looking for love, Mark quickly becomes smitten with the outgoing and mysterious Ash, who somehow, much to his surprise, reciprocates the attraction. But as his feelings for her intensify, so does his unexpected submersion into Ashโs biggest love: the wild world of mukbanging. And with it, lots of bloodshed.
The new clip, while it doesnโt hint at any of the bloody mess to come, does introduce us to Ash and her love of food, which she and Mark quickly bond over. Mukbanging isnโt for everyone, though, with its loud mouth sounds and ASMR-like quality, and itโs obvious that Ashโs delicious meals are more than she lets on. How long itโll take Mark to discover, however, is anyoneโs guess.
Cannibal Mukbang is the latest in a long line of horror and thriller films from Jackrabbit Media, the distributor behind Kugeโs exploration of foodies and how far theyโll go for clicks. Their catalogue also includes titles like Delivery Run, The Death That Awaits, and the Shudder film Influencer.
Cannibal Mukbang is available on digital and on demand now, with a Blu-ray release coming on April 22. Check out the new clip below:
