Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All At Once) and Lili Reinhart (Hustlers, Riverdale) are set to star in Bad Boy, a new horror movie told through the eyes of a dog.

Directed by Jacob Chase (Come Play, The Girl In The Woods) from a script by Travis Braun, Bad Boy is due to start filming in Canada this August, Deadline reveals.

In Bad Boy:

Gary is a good boy who loves his new owner, Cameron (Quan). He gets treats and belly rubs and life is great. Gary isnโ€™t allowed in the basement though. And even if he was, he canโ€™t unlock doors. But thereโ€™s a girl (Reinhart) in the basement. And she canโ€™t come out to play. Gary doesnโ€™t know it, but heโ€™s her only chance.

Deadline also report that casting for the pup, believed to be a Terrier, is currently under way.

Bad Boy is produced by Longlegs‘ Dave Caplan and Divide/Conquerโ€™s Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath, with Black Bear is repping international rights.

Here's what director Chase has to say about the upcoming horror-thriller:

โ€œI love dogs. More than people. And Iโ€™m tired of seeing horror movies where the dog is the first one to die! Theyโ€™re not just pets, theyโ€™re our best friends, and I believe itโ€™s time for a horror film where the dog is the hero. Bad Boy is about loyalty, instinct, and the incredible bond between humans and dogs. Itโ€™s going to be a highly original, grounded, deeply suspenseful fresh take on a horror thriller. And Iโ€™m thrilled to collaborate with Ke and Lili on two roles unlike anything theyโ€™ve played before.โ€

Look out for more on Bad Boy as we get it.
