Despite the film being just under six months away, not an awful lot is known about the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth. The sixth entry in the long-running dinosaur-centric franchise has wrapped filming and is rapidly coming up on its July release date. Weโve seen several images from the film, but the dinos have yet to make an appearance. So, at this point, until we get a trailer, any information comes at a premium. Thatโs what makes the most recent development so damn intriguing.

Up top, we must caution that a lot of what is making the rounds right now seems to be BS. That said, if we dig through the shit, there appear to be interesting nuggets of truth work examining. The folks at Jurassic Outpost recently posted a video examining rumors that suggest Rebirth will be R-rated. This is insanely hard to believe as Universal Pictures wouldnโt want to alienate audience members who have turned this into a $6 billion franchise. That said, it still seems like there may be truth to the idea that this movie will be far more violent than the recent trilogy.

Jana Carboni, the filmโs credited makeup designer, recently shared a snippet of a video made by a fan discussing rumored details of Rebirth. Again, much of this seems to be nonsense. But Carboni specifically shared a screencap that suggested the film will be โbrutally violent.โ Carboni signed off on that saying, โYupโฆitโs no joke.โ
Now weโre talking. Itโs possible to make something pretty violent within the confines of a PG-13 rating, so that checks out. Letโs also not forget that Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One) is directing Rebirth, and heโs not one to pull punches. Just look at his infamous Darth Vader hallway scene. Plus, David Koepp, who wrote the original Jurassic Park returned to pen the script for this installment, with the writer suggesting that the film is going to return to the tone of the original movie.
As for what we do know, the cast is led by Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), with a stellar ensemble that also includes Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) and Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), among others. The somewhat lengthy synopsis for the film reads as follows:
โFive years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planetโs ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.
Academy Award nominee Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the worldโs three most massive dinosaurs. When Zoraโs operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery thatโs been hidden from the world for decades.โ
We should be getting a trailer for the film very, very soon, so the mystery should unravel here in the coming weeks. For the time being, this all just got rather intriguing. Get ready for dinosaurs who arenโt afraid to get bloody!
