Hello, gamers. Do you like scary video games? If so, the folks behind Mortal Kombat 1 have just the thing. The recently released Khaos Reigns expansion pack for the latest entry in the long-running, ultra-violent fighting game series is bringing several new characters to the game. Most notably, Ghostface from Scream is joining the party. Weโve seen glimpses of him in action in previous trailers but now, Warner Bros. Games has released a full gameplay trailer of the killer in action. Get the popcorn ready because this is good stuff. Check it out.
The trailer can best be described as a hoot for fans of either Mortal Kombat or Scream. Seeing these worlds blend together works better than one could have imagined. Itโs the beauty of video games (and perhaps comic books), allowing us to see crossovers that would never be possible in movies or TV. Credit where credit is due, they absolutely nailed Ghostface, from the look to lines that feel like they belong in the franchise, itโs all there. It certainly doesnโt hurt that they got Roger L. Jackson back to do the voice.
All of Ghostfaceโs moves look true to the character, even if they did power him up a bit to be able to fight the likes of Sub-Zero and Scorpion. The coolest feature, which is demonstrated a lot in the new footage, is Ghostface teaming up with another Ghostface for double the carnage. Itโs also true to the character, as weโve seen multiple Ghostfaces in the films before dating back to the original when Billy Loomis teamed up with Stu Macher, who may or may not be alive still. The characterโs fatality, in particular, is a bit of meta goodness that would make Wes Craven proud.
The Khaos Reigns expansion pack also includes a couple of other characters for players to enjoy, notably Arnold Schwarzeneggerโs Conan the Barbarian and Robert Patrickโs T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day. As for what to expect from the DLC, broadly speaking? The official description reads as follows:
โMortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns expands Liu Kangโs New Era with a new story campaign and an all-new cinematic experience. Discover how Liu Kang rallies his champions and puts faith in his enemies as he battles the ruthless Titan Havik, who threatens to plunge the realms into khaos. If they fail, the New Era will be reduced to anarchy.โ
The Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns expansion is available now with Ghostface arriving on November 26, but early access opens up on November 19. For more, get the lowdown on Scream VII and when youโll be able to see it in theaters.
