Weโve referred to space as โthe final frontierโ for decades โ thanks, Star Trek โ but what does that really mean? Whatโs actually out there, if anything, and does it mean us harm? If youโre the kind of person whoโs ever pondered those questions, Metrograph Pictures has the perfect film for you: Meanwhile on Earth, which FANGORIA is excited to premiere an exclusive clip from ahead of its November premiere.
The French-language features follows first-time star Megan Northam as Elsa, a young woman struggling to keep up with her life after her astronaut brother Franck vanished during his first (and only) mission. One day, she receives contact from her brother, but not everything is as it seems, and sheโs shocked to discover the horrifying circumstances behind his reappearance as she reckons with what sheโs willing to do to bring back someone she loves.
The clip isnโt for the faint of heart, as Elsa discovers something living inside her ear, a worm-like creature that stretches when she attempts to pull it out. When it wonโt relent, she goes for the scissors, only for the parasite to respond in kind, telepathically telling her to lay off. It reveals that it knows where her brother is, and that heโs safe, but that to see him, Elsa must do something for it in return. That, of course, canโt be a good sign โ when are (presumably) brain-eating parasites ever a good sign?
The sci-fi horror picture is written and directed by Jรฉrรฉmy Clapin and produced by Marc Du Pontavice, and also stars Sรฉbastien Pouderoux, Catherine Salรฉe, and Dimitri Dorรฉ. The film is Northamโs first leading role, having previously featured on television in Prime Videoโs series Greek Salad, and Clapinโs first film since 2019โs I Lost My Body, an animated film about a severed hand looking for its body.
Meanwhile on Earth will premiere in theaters on November 8. Check out the exclusive clip below:
