Exclusive HOUSE OF ASHES Trailer Teases A Politically-Charged Phantasmagorical Nightmare

Izzy Lee's debut feature plays a sold-out World Premiere at Brooklyn Horror Festival this weekend.

Filmmaker and author Izzy Lee has been a festival staple for years with her politically-charged shorts (including Legitimate, Innsmouth and the FANGORIA Chainsaw Award-nominated Meat Friend), and is soon set to hit the circuit with her debut feature, House of Ashes, for which we're proud to bring you an exclusive trailer and poster reveal today.

House of Ashes' sold-out World Premiere will play Brooklyn Horror Film Festival on October 19, with Lee, co-writer/producer Steve Johanson, lead cast Fayna Sanchez and Vincent Stalba, and composer Antoine Lamothe in attendance.

Starring Fayna Sanchez (Creepshow, Tenants) as Mia and Vincent Stalba (Lessons in Chemistry, I Saw the Light) as Marc, House of Ashes was inspired by “far-right U.S. politicians waging war on the female body”.

Still reeling from a miscarriage, Mia grieves her husband Adam, found dead at the veterinary clinic they owned. Sheโ€™s been acquitted of Adamโ€™s death, but is under public scrutiny and must serve a house arrest sentence due to living in a state where miscarriage carries heavy punishment.

Enter Marc, an old friend who loves and protects Mia. Not long after he moves in, the new couple endures challenges: things go missing and theyโ€™re attacked by an unseen foe. Mia is sure that the culprit is a supernatural entity, but Marcโ€™s convinced that humans are the problem. A security expert by trade, he installs a home surveillance system to help keep them safe โ€” but soon finds out that this is an issue he canโ€™t fix. Under all these pressures, Mia must call on her buried strength to move on with her life โ€” or risk death herself.

House of Ashes also stars Lee Boxleitner, Mason Conrad, and Laura Dromerick, with cameos from genre filmmakers Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, Suitable Flesh) and Mick Garris (Masters of Horror, Sleepwalkers).

Behind the camera, House of Ashes was lensed by Director of Photography Sophia Cacciola (The Once and Future Smash) and edited by Anna Rottke (The Conjuring: Last Rites). The film was produced by C. Robert Cargill (The Black Phone, Sinister). Lee and Johanson of Nihil Noctem Films, Jessica Cargill, Megan Duffy (Maniac), Kevin Sluder, and Jennifer Sluder co-produced, while Mario Niccolo Messina and Valentina Cau executive produced. Nicholas Peterson and Michael Lenzini are Associate Producers.

The film's soundtrack was composed by Antoine Lamothe of the industrial Montreal band Deadly Apples (their upcoming album features Filter frontman Richard Patrick and former Nine Inch Nails member Danny Lohner).

If you've been lucky enough to get tickets to the World Premiere of House of Ashes, you can catch it playing at 6:55pm on October 19 at the iconic Nighthawk Cinema Williamsburg. We'll bring you further release details on House of Ashes as they roll in.
