The folks at Mutant have teamed up with IFC Films and Shudder to bring us a couple of impressive new posters for this year’s acclaimed, inventive slasher In a Violent Nature. The film, which was the brainchild of writer/director Chris Nash, arrived earlier this year and, though a bit divisive, was an undeniably original take on the well-trodden genre. Now, artist Gary Pullin has put his stamp on the film with two gorgeous screen printed posters.
Pullin’s posters, which you can check out below, feature the film’s killer Johnny and his mask looming large over the woods he inhabits. These posters are a split edition and available in two different color patterns: a naturalistic sunset edition and a moonlit edition inspired by giallo films. Both are 18″x24″ screenprints. Both the six-color Sunset and seven-color Moonlight edition are limited to just 60 each. So those who want to get their hands on one would do well to act fast when they go on sale on October 10. Or, for those reading this as of the date of publication, tomorrow.
Mutant was formed earlier this year by Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah and former employees of Mondo. They’ve since dedicated themselves to making impressive collectibles such as posters and vinyl soundtracks, not unlike the Mondo of old. This is just the latest in a line of original works from the company. With any luck, they’ll be around doing such things for years to come.
As for the film in question, Nash’s POV slasher was an instant success. IFC and Shudder were very quick to green light In a Violent Nature 2, which is currently in development. It certainly appears as though we have the makings of a modern slasher icon on our hands, joining the likes of Art the Clown for Terrifier.
