A24's latest invites us to party like it's 1999. Y2Kย follows two high school juniors as they crash a New Year's Eve party on the last night of 1999. Things go awry, and the duo find themselves fighting for their lives in what the synopsis describes as a “dial-up disaster comedy.” Ah, we can hear the sweet, sultry sounds of a dial-up modem screaming into the darkness as we type this up.
Written by Kyle Mooney and Evan Winter, directed by Mooney, and starring Rachel Zegler, Jaeden Martell, and Julian Dennison. The film will be released in theaters on December 6th, but we have your first look at the official trailer right here.ย Free up the phone line and let's watch this thing.
Hell yeah. Y2K looks like a fun coming-of-age horror with a stacked cast (including Lachlan Watson, The Kid Laroi, and Fred Durst!). Produced by Evan Winter, Jonah Hill, Matt Dines, Alison Goodwin, Chris Storer, Cooper Wehde.
Admittedly, death by Varsity Blues or Tamagotchi were not threats we had on our radar, but they are very fitting. Curious to see what technology on the fritz looks like in full-blown action whenย Y2K hits theaters in December.
