Several weeks ago, it was revealed that Carolina Caroline director Adam Carter Rehmeier is set to direct the new mystery thriller Seeker, and now we know the big names that’ll be starring in it. Deadline reports that Obsession star Cooper Tomlinson is set to take the lead role, with Mika Abdalla and genre veteran Jessica Rothe also starring.
Seeker is written by Michael Learner and comes from Hammerstone Studios, which also produced Zach Cregger’s Barbarian. Per Deadline, the film’s synopsis is as follows:
Seeker follows Grant, a man haunted by the unexplained disappearance of his fiancée five years earlier. Now an Uber driver, his life is upended when he picks up a passenger he becomes convinced was responsible for her disappearance. The film begins as a tense game of cat and mouse before spiraling into something far stranger, more disturbing, and deeply unhinged.
Tomlinson is set to play Grant, while Abdalla features as his lost fiancée. No word on who Rothe is playing, though it seems safe to assume she’s the mysterious passenger. The film is set to begin production in January in the state of Washington.
“With Seeker, I wanted to write something as propulsive and unpredictable as possible, while grounded in a personal story about obsession and loss,” said Learner when the film was originally announced. “Adam has such a singular voice as a filmmaker and an incredible ability to find humanity in his characters. I can’t imagine a better filmmaker to bring Seeker to life.”
Seeker is produced by Learner and Alex Lebovici for Hammerstone, alongside Adam McKay, Todd Schulman, Noah Centineo, and Enzo Marc. Executive producers include Ibrahim Mohammed, Chase Vergari, Karina Manashil, Alex Kaplunov, and David Goldman.
No release date has been set for Seeker. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
