Just a short recap today as we're still in the thick of the thrills at Telluride Horror Show. Day 2 dawned sunny and crisp, and my elementary school-aged, pizza-earning heart can truly think of no better way to celebrate spooky season than with a book fair. The Horror Show does this every year, with visiting authors signing copies of their latest and greatest for a line of literary enthusiasts. This year's authors – Steven Barnes, Nat Cassidy, Tananarive Due, Jeremy Robert Johnson and CJ Leede – filled Telluride's Elks Lodge with constant readers and new fans.

The Day 2's film programming included repeat screenings of When You See It; The Threshing; American Dollhouse; and Mum, I'm Alien Pregnant; the Sinister Stories and Weird-Ass Tales shorts blocks; and another Bigfoot-themed rep screening in Night of the Demon. Premiere screenings included a Telluride Horror Show first, a sell-out crowd of the festival's biggest venue, the 587-seat capacity Palm Theatre, for Joshua Giuliano's astonishing slasher River, featuring Fango friend Dane DiLiegro as an uncommonly memorable bad guy. I was lucky to intro this historic screening, and I loved the film so much I could see it becoming an all-time favorite after only one viewing. I was also honored to host meaningful Q&As for the tremendous found footageWhen You See It and Jordan Downey's brilliant dark procedural-plus, The Cycle. Day 2 also premiered Nick Taylor's Steve Johnson documentary Rubberhead; Alex Goyette's one-of-a-kind Breeder; Mason Newton-DeRushie's animated and puppeted Kylgor in the Grisly Abyss; Quarxx's ominous period piece The Ones Who Grieve; Casey Walker's ruthless period piece Ithaqua; and the grand return of Horror Show and Fango favorites the Adams Family for The Glorious Dead. Plus we had our first peek at the Vault of Humor and Chamber of Horrors shorts blocks.

The big Day 2 event is always the Pig Roast, a beer-and-barbecue party that fills this Texpat up with all the things I'm missing in Germany, down to (American) football on the TV screens. A big crowd turned out for that, and for Late Night with Count Chuckles.
