AHOY Comics is known for their best-selling range of genre stories, covering everything from shrewd satires to mind-bending paranormal stories, and their newest wave of titles is nothing to scoff at. They just revealed the details for four series coming next year, including the genre-mixing detective horror Corduroy Road.
Publishing in January, the four-issue miniseries comes from writer Eric Palicki, with art by Chris Peterson and a first issue cover by Erica Henderson. AHOY describes the series as a “brutal mix of mystery and paranormal action in the tradition of Hack/Slash and Something Is Killing the Children,” with a description as follows:
What happens when a private detective obsessed with uncovering the truth suddenly finds himself responsible for keeping one hell of a secret? Five years ago, Paul Corduroy walked into a Chicago basement and emerged changed. His arm was maimed, for one thing, and he found himself in possession of a sword capable of killing the demons Paul now understood to haunt the city’s underbelly.
Paul’s new day job finds him exterminating monsters before the everyday citizens of Chicago get wise to their existence, but all he wants is to get back to solving mysteries. When a new case falls in his lap, Paul will risk everything—his career, his city, his eternal soul—to be what he was meant to be: a detective.
The new series is joined by three others arriving next year, including the latest installment in their The Wrong Earth series, as well as Dragonproof, and Kindergarten Gulag, a single-issue story about a man who wakes up in a prison run by a bunch of creepy five–year-olds. What a concept!
Corduroy Road #1 hits shelves on January 6, 2027. Check out the cover below:
