Bong Joon Ho's 2006 monster movie The Host is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a theatrical re-release bounding onto U.S. screens next month, newly remastered in crisp 4K.

Magnolia Pictures will release the 4K restoration of The Host in theaters nationwide on November 20, and the release features an exclusive conversation with the Oscar-winning filmmaker.

Starring Song Kang-ho (Memories of Murder, Parasite), Bae Doona (Kingdom, Alpha Gang), Byun Hee-bong (Okja) and Go Ah-sung (Snowpiercer), The Host follows slow-witted food vendor Gang-du (Song) whose daughter is captured by a monstrously mutated beast that emerges from Seoul's Han River:

The government announces that the monstrous creature is apparently the Host of an unidentified virus. Having feared the worst, Gang-du is stunned when he receives a phone call from his daughter. She is frightened—but very much alive. Determined to rescue her, Gang-du soon makes plans to infiltrate the forbidden zone near the Han River and save his daughter from the clutches of the horrifying Host.

Inspired by true events, in the twenty years since its release, The Host has become known as an eco-horror classic, and one of the beloved South Korean horror movies of all time.

The FANGORIA Chainsaw Award-nominated Wēta Workshop (Lord of the Rings, X, Alien Romulus, Whalefall) brought the creature of The Host to life, while American studio The Orphanage (Sin City, Grindhouse) handled FX.

Here what the maestro himself, who is gearing up to make a return to horror (hopefully scored by John Carpenter), has to say of the rerelease:
