Audiences at certain screenings of Zach Cregger's Resident Evil were this weekend treated to a mysterious trailer for a mysterious upcoming horror-thriller from A24. As it turns out, Slayground is the new name for the previously-titled October from director Jeremy Saulnier, and yep, it looks just as intense as we'd expect from the man behind Green Room. With a stellar cast that includes Imogen Poots (Green Room), James Badge Dale (The Empty Man), Matty Matheson (The Bear), Cory Michael Smith (Saturday Night), Chase Sui Wonders (I Know What You Did Last Summer), Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me), and Young Mazino (The Last of Us), Slayground has previously been described as a fugitive thriller set on Halloween.
The new teaser seems to be leaning into some sort of haunted-house-gone-horribly-wrong type nightmare, with a mysterious website launched today suggesting much the same.
Per previous reports, Slayground is produced by A24, Rich Peete (Neighborhood Watch), Eli Bush (Central) and Saulnier and Skei Saulnier (Niteowl Films), with Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie (Central), Traci Carlson and Elliott Coley (Neighborhood Watch) and The Toxic Avenger‘s Macon Blair (Bonneville Pictures) exec producing.
Slayground marks a return to A24 for Saulnier following the aforementioned 2015 punk rock horror show Green Room, which starred Poots, the late Anton Yelchin, and Patrick Stewart.
