To celebrate Texas Chain Saw Massacre Day, Waxwork Records is doing something special. For just twenty-four hours only, fans can get their hands on the film’s original score on an exclusive pressing from the company, marking the first time they’ve ever made a picture disc.

For those who don’t know what that is, it’s pretty self-explanatory: instead of regular black (or colored) vinyl, each side of a record is pressed with an image, usually to do with the album. For Waxwork’s new Texas Chainsaw release, both will be pressed on handpoured orange vinyl, with one side bearing an image of Leatherface, while the other shows off a bloody Sally Hardesty from the end of the film.

The new LP features the full score written by Tobe Hooper and Wayne Bell for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, sourced from the original master tapes. The deluxe set, retailing for $40 USD, also features exclusive liner notes from Bell, a heavyweight gatefold jacket with inner flood printing designed by Steve Reeves, and a twelve page booklet featuring behind the scenes photography from the film.

Originally released in October of 1974, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre bested bannings in several countries to become a cult classic film, spawning numerous sequels, remakes, and spin-offs that endure to this day — going even so far as to make it into the National Film Registry. The franchise also has some new entries on the way, with Obsession director Curry Barker set to direct a “reimagining” of Hooper’s classic.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre picture disc is available from Waxwork Records now, and will be shipped sometime in October.
