Free Horror Movies Streaming This Month

Scary movie fans at home have some really solid offerings with this month's free horror movies streaming on the gratis streaming services. The temptation might be to think that being able to stream movies for free means that there aren't quality films available, and that's just not true, especially this month. Pluto TV has 60 movies moving to the app, so you definitely have lots of choices. You will find nearly all of the Paranormal Activity films, six of the late-period Hellraiser movies, and six of the Children of the Corn movies. All of those franchises have 6 of their movies available, which would be 666. We aren't casting any judgment; we are just counting the movies. Ahem.

Pluto TV has 24-hour streaming channels in addition to movies on demand. You don't even have to sign up for an account unless you really want to, and you want to make sure the app keeps track of the channels and movies you watch. In standalone and stand-out movies, you can find Event Horizon, starring the late Sam Neill; Angel Heart, the late Chuck Russell's brutal remake of The Blob, Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker’s Dracula; Ken Russell's absolutely bonkers film Gothic (watch more Ken Russell); David Cronenberg's Shivers; and Jeremy Saulnier's prophetic Green Room. 

Fangoria's Blood Drive and Blood Drive 2 are on the list as well. The Fangoria Blood Drive was a contest held in the early 2000s to find up-and-coming fright film filmmakers and feature their short films, with the winners released as part of a DVD compilation video. This is your chance to find out who made the cut back then.

There is also a new horror television series being added to Pluto TV. iZombie is a supernatural revenant TV show where the lead character, Olivia “Liv” Moore, played by Rose McIver, turns into a zombie and must snack on brains regularly or risk turning into a typical violent zombie who kills people. She becomes a morgue assistant to have access to the tasty brains, and finds that she can solve crimes as she absorbs the memories of the people whose brains she eats. It is a TV show with a lead character who is a zombie, which is amazing.

Tubi is doing very well with a slightly smaller list, but with some films you might not see elsewhere. The streaming service has three of The Twisted Childhood Universe (TCU) tales, which are horror movies made from classic children's stories that have lapsed into the public domain. This includes Bambi: The Reckoning, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, and Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2. Created by English filmmaker Rhys Frake-Waterfield, these movies take your cherished childhood stories and add spouting blood, murder, and revenge to the mix.

Three of the movies from the Scream series, three of the Final Destination franchise, and three of the animated Resident Evil films are also now available on Tubi. By the way, the three Resident Evil movies were made by Japanese filmmakers. They are known as “biopunk action horror” movies made with full-length motion capture and were part of a cooperative effort by Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan. The three RE movies streaming on Tubi were directed by Makoto Kamiya and Eiichiro Hasumi.
