Scream queen Sophie Thatcher (Heretic, Companion) enters a world of glitter, sex and violence in the new trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn's Her Private Hell, hitting theaters on July 24 via NEON.
Refn's first full feature following 2016's The Neon Demon also stars Charles Melton (May December, Warfare), Kristine Froseth (The First Lady), Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms), Dougray Scott (Irvine Welsh’s Crime), Diego Calva (Babylon), Aoi Yamada (Perfect Days), Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool & Wolverine), and Hidetoshi Nishijima (Drive My Car), the Tokyo-shot Her Private Hell also follows a group of women about to make a Barbarella style sci-fi movie are hunted by a mysterious slasher known as Leather Man.
But that's not the only thing they have to worry about, as an official logline for Her Private Hell also reveals that the film centers on a mysterious mist that engulfs the futuristic metropolis, unleashing a deadly and elusive entity…
In a previous interview with Deadline, Refn revealed that part of the inspiration for Her Private Hell came from the Danish auteur actually dying for 20 minutes a few years back:
When I did come back alive, thank god, I was like, I had to start all over again with everything, but this time, I had 30 years of knowledge. You completely have to start over again with everything; moving your legs, arms, stuff like that. And I saw that I wanted to make movies again, the same way I’d wanted to make movies when I was young, but I also had a very specific mantra, which was: I will make things that come to me instinctively.
