Get ready to hate heights all over again as Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Fall 2: Deadpoint. The sequel to the most stressful thriller of 2022 is finally, nearly upon us and it looks like it will be worth the wait for thrillseekers. For those with a paralyzing fear of heights, it might be best to look away because this is going to activate that phobia in a big, bad way. This looks crazy as hell.

The first movie took place on a very tall radio tower. Rather than do the exact same thing again, the follow-up plays with a similar concept in a new location. Namely, on the side of a mountain with some serious rock-climbing-gone-wrong action. It looks just as stressful. As someone whose palms were sweaty during the vast majority of the first movie, I can already feel the sweat starting to creep up just watching the trailer. The synopsis for the sequel reads as follows:

“From the survival hit that tapped into the fear of heights and left two friends stranded at the top of a tower comes a climb that goes higher, gets deadlier, and hits with next-level adrenaline. In Fall 2: Deadpoint, two friends take on new heights in Thailand, where unpredictable terrain, extreme exposure, and nowhere to hide push survival further than ever before.”

The sequel is directed by Michael And Peter Spierig, of Jigsaw fame. Scott Mann directed the first one but decided to give up the director’s chair this time around, allowing the Spierig brothers to put their stamp on this budding franchise.

Released in 2022, the first Fall was a surprise hit. Against very solid reviews, it earned nearly $22 million at the box office against a mere $3 million budget. It was a damn fine example of doing a lot with a little. In the aftermath of that success, not one but two sequels were given the green light. So yes, Fall 3 will also be on the way at some point down the line. Get ready for more high stakes falling from scary places.

The cast for the sequel is led by Outlander: Blood of My Blood star Harriet Slater. Arsema Thomas (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story) and Tom Brittney (Grantchester) also star. Jonathan Frank and Scott Mann returned to pen the screenplay. Mann was also a producer alongside James Harris, Mark Lane, David Haring and Christian Mercur.
