A true cult classic in the Resident Evil canon, Code: Veronica, initially released in 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast, is widely considered to be one of the most rewarding games in the franchise – if you can get past how easy it is to softblock yourself thanks to limited supplies and character switches that aren't pre-warned.

The story follows Resident Evil 2 heroine Claire Redfield as she continues the hunt for her brother, Chris. The journey leads her to a remote prison island in the Southern Ocean and a research facility in Antarctica, where she has to take on zombies, mutated spiders, and a pair of siblings that make Flowers in the Attic look normal.

Code Veronica remake has long since been rumored, and now is the perfect time for it. Resident Evil Requiem, the latest entry in the mainline series, set a record for the best-performing Resident Evil game of all time upon opening, boasting over seven million copies sold as of April. Needless to say, the Resident Evil series is on a high that is only going to continue to climb.

Resident Evil Veronica is set for release in 2027. Look out for more on the  remake as we get it.
