Scream queen Maika Monroe (It Follows, Longlegs) leads Victorian Psycho, with today bringing a first look at the upcoming Gothic horror-thriller that's officially set to premiere at Cannes Film Festival next month.
Also starring Thomasin McKenzie, Jacobi Jupe, and Jason Isaacs, Victorian Psycho is based on the novel of the same name by Virginia Feito. Zachary Wigon (Sanctuary) directs from a screenplay adapted by Feito herself. Following its Cannes premiere, Victorian Psycho will hit theaters nationwide on September 25.
Monroe leads the film as a young 19th century woman who, when she joins the staff of a remote manor, raises concerns with the owners when staff members inexplicably begin to disappear. Production wrapped in Ireland last year, after Monroe stepped into the lead role after The Substance star Margaret Qualley departed the project. Victorian Psycho marks a reunion between Monroe and producer Dan Kagan (Longlegs). Sébastien Raybaud (Greenland: Migration) also produces for Anton and Wigon, in association with Anonymous Content. Nick Shumaker, Bard Dorros and Feito will executive produce.
