Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Dracula went full-on John Wick on a bunch of Nazis in World War II? We’ve all been there. Fortunately, the folks at IDW have ensured that we need no longer wonder as they’ve made this absolutely insane scenario a reality. Get ready for Operation: Iron Coffin.

Fango is proud to present an exclusive preview of the new series from IDW Dark, including not one but four different covers, as well as several preview pages from the first issue, which hits stands in July. Operation: Iron Coffin hails from writer Kenny Porter (War Wolf) and artist Tyrell Cannon (The Schlub). As for the specifics of the story at hand? The synopsis for the book reads as follows:
“The recently resurrected Dracula, one of the world’s greatest monsters and most infamous vampires, is hell-bent on redemption. The mission he takes to make that redemption possible? Teaming up with British Allied forces during World War II. They’ll air-drop him onto a Nazi train containing a horde of soldiers, augmented villains, and a vampire plague that, if released, will create a new generation of vampire terrors. Dracula will have to battle his way through the train, confronting his past sins and facing off against the wicked Hazel and Ivy, who are calling the shots for the Nazis…and who have a vested interest in Dracula’s failures.”
Below, you’ll see Cover B by Juan Ferreyra, a 1 in 15 Variant RI by Edison Neo and a 1 in 25 Variant RI by Serena Mercado. As for the preview? It offers but a tiny taste of the crazy action contained within. Buckle up. Dracula’s redemption tour is going to be a wild ride.

“For longtime fans of Dracula and the vampire genre as a whole, Operation: Iron Coffin is going to take that concept in a brand-new, pulpy, and very gory direction,” Porter said. “If John Wick had been a horror film starring Dracula, this would be the book it was adapted from. At my core, I'm a horror fan, and this book is everything I want to see in an occult World War II thriller.
“Operation: Iron Coffin is the perfect vortex of things I love: horror movies, '90s anime, and frenetic action comics,” Cannon added. “I'm cranking the gore and action up to the max. We have a wild ride for you, so jump on board and let's kill some Nazis!”
This is the latest original series from IDW Dark, which has also been behind the expansion of lots of popular horror franchises. The line was developed with horror in mind and also includes books like A Quiet Place: Storm Warning and Smile: For the Camera.
Operation: Iron Coffin #1 hits shelves on July 28. Pre-orders are due by June 1, so call, email, or head down to your local comic shop to get in on the action.
