Dan Stevens is out of his mind — or is he? AMC just released the first trailer for The Terror: Devil in Silver, the third season of their highly acclaimed anthology series, and it looks like the horror veteran has got his hands full with a haunted asylum, harrowing neighbors, and more.

The Terror: Devil in Silver stars Godzilla x Kong alum Dan Stevens alongside Judith Light, CCH Pounder, Aasif Mandvi, John Benjamin Hickey, Stephen Root, Marin Ireland, and Michael Aronov. The new season’s synopsis is as follows:

Pepper – a working-class moving man who, through a combination of bad luck and a bad temper, finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital – an institution filled with those society would rather forget. There, he must contend with patients working against him, doctors harboring grim secrets, and perhaps even the Devil himself. As Pepper navigates a hellscape where nothing is as it seems, he finds that the only path to freedom is to face the entity which thrives on the suffering within New Hyde’s walls – but doing so may prove that the worst demons of all live inside him.

Jennifer’s Body director Karyn Kusama will helm the first two episodes of Devil in Silver, which is executive produced by Stephens alongside Ridley Scott and showrunners Chris Cantwell and Victor LaValle, the latter of whom wrote the novel on which this season is based.

“Working shoulder to shoulder with Victor LaValle to bring his masterful novel to the screen has been an incredible experience, as his story is, yes—packed with death and horror—but also brimming with beauty and the flickering-yet-unassailable light of our fragile humanity,” said Cantwell. “Our writing team expanded and enriched Victor’s pulse-pounding and profound themes, Karyn Kusama brought a brilliant cinematic eye to this very real, very frightening world and we did it all under the accomplished, hallowed banner of Scott Free with a top tier crew.”

The Terror first launched in 2018, with its first season based on Dan Simmons’ 2007 novel about the lost Franklin expedition to the Arctic in 1845. A second season premiered in 2019, titled Infamy, and focused on an American community terrorized by Japanese bakemono during World War II. Devil in Silver was originally announced in 2024, and will arrive almost a decade after the show first premiered.

The Terror: Devil in Silver premieres on Shudder and AMC+ on May 7.
