Following an official title reveal over the weekend, Sony's panel at CinemaCon yesterday delivered the first trailer for Insidious: Out of the Further, the sixth installment in the long-running supernatural horror franchise hitting theaters this summer. Let's get back to the Further:

Brandon Perea (Nopestars in the pic alongside Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Nine Perfect Strangers 2), Sam Spruell (Legend) and Island Austin (I Can Only Imagine 2), Amelie Eve (The Exorcist) and the legendary Lin Shaye as Insidious mainstay psychic medium Elise Rainier.

Directed by Jacob Chase (Come Play) from a screenplay he co-wrote with David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2, Orphan), in Insidious: Out of the Further, Eve stars as Gemma, a young mother raising her daughter in the house she grew up in, who discovers she can travel into The Further, the purgatorial realm of lost souls at the heart of the Insidious universe:

When something evil comes after her, Gemma discovers an ability that changes everything: She doesn’t just enter The Further, she can bring what lives there back to the real world. Once the demons realize her power, our world becomes their playground.

Since the James Wan-directed and Leigh Whannell-written first entry back in 2010, the Insidious franchise remains a big money-maker at the box office, with all five movies totaling $740M worldwide and the latest in the series, 2023's The Red Door, taking home $190M worldwide alone. For the sixth entry in the franchise, Blumhouse's Jason Blum is back in a producing role, along with Oren Peli, Wan, and Whannell, with executive producers Ryan Turek, Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Leslie Johnson.

There's also the upcoming spinoff, Thread: An Insidious Tale, which stars Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani, although that doesn't have a release date (or a whole lot of details in general) for us to report on as of now.

Insidious: Out of the Further hits theaters on August 21, 2026. Check out the first official poster below, and stay tuned for more.
