Despite swaths of cancellations arriving left and right, School Spirits survives to haunt another day. Paramount+ announced that the YA horror series has been renewed for Season 4, on the back of a massive cliffhanger at the end of Season 3, leaving the fate of Peyton List’s Maddie hanging in the balance.

Season 3 ended with Maddie and her friends saving Split River High from destruction, but now the peril has moved to the young ghost’s personal life, with Maddie’s mother ending the season possessed by an evil spirit. Alongside List, the series stars Kristian Ventura, Spencer MacPherson, Kiara Pichardo, Sarah Yarkin, Nick Pugliese, Rainbow Wedell, Josh Zuckerman, Maria Dizzia, Ci Hang Ma, Miles Ellio, and Milo Manheim — though it hasn’t been confirmed who will be returning for Season 4 just yet.

Created by co-showrunners Nate and Megan Trinrud, School Spirits originally premiered on Paramount+ in 2023, with fans forced to wait an agonizing two years to find out more about List’s undead teenager Maddie and how she died in Season 2. But it seems like that won’t be the case going forward, with the success of Season 3 driving enough momentum to earn an early renewal.

School Spirits is one of a number of horror series available on Paramount+ — while you wait for a release date for Season 4, you can binge any number of shows, including every season of The Twilight Zone, Penny Dreadful, Under the Dome, and more. They’re also home to film franchises like Scream, A Quiet Place, Smile, and Friday the 13th, among many others.

All three seasons of School Spirits are available to stream on Paramount+. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
