Stranger Things may officially be over, but fans of the Duffer Brothers' hit series have got an extra big treat coming their way in the form of a stacked new physical media release from Arrow Video.
In an unprecedented move by Netflix, notorious for being cagey about releasing their properties onto disc (despite the streamer's roots as a video rental store), all five seasons of Stranger Things will be available to own in one gigantic 4K Blu-ray boxset, with a Deluxe collection that features brand new artwork, more than five hours of bonus features, a 148-page artbook plus memorabilia from across Hawkins.
After 10 years and five seasons, Stranger Things aired its climactic finale on New Year's Eve, wrapping up the tale of Hawkins and the Upside Down, and giving (most of) the cast a happy ending as they finally defeated the monstrous Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). Series stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Sadie Sink and Maya Hawke returned for one last hurrah, and while reactions to the final season were mixed, there's no denying Stranger Things‘ place in pop culture history, especially as Netflix's most successful show.
There's no doubt that the Stranger Things licence is a huge get for Arrow, and we can hope hope it means Netflix will allow more of their original titles to be released on physical media. We already know that Guillermo del Toro's Oscar-winning Frankenstein has secured itself a Criterion release, which bodes well for others in the catalogue (Kevin Ko's Incantation next please, Netflix!)
Now available for pre-order, the complete Stranger Things Blu-ray boxset costs $180, while the Deluxe bells'n'whistles Stranger Things 4K UHD boxset will set fans back $230, but comes with a hefty load of extras. Read on for the full list and some packshots courtesy of Arrow Video.
