Bill Hader is back behind the camera, and this time, heโ€™s headed to the big screen. Deadline reports that the Barry star is set to make his feature directorial debut with They Know, a new horror film that he plans to write, direct, and star in, based on a story he developed with Duffy Boudreau.

According to Deadline, the new film โ€œcenters on a divorced dad (Hader) who grows suspicious that his ex-wife is secretly dating a mysterious man who is having a strange influence on their children.โ€ No other plot or casting details have been released as of yet, but the project is set to begin production this spring in Los Angeles. They Know will be Haderโ€™s first time behind the camera since the end of his popular HBO series Barry, which he also starred in, and is funded by MRC, with producers Bob Graf and Alyssa Donovan.ย

Hader is primarily known for his comedy work, featuring in over 150 episodes of Saturday Night Live and starring in projects like The Skeleton Twins and Documentary Now!, alongside lending his voice to various animated projects, including the animated film The Addams Family 2. But heโ€™s also got a solid foot in horror, having starred as the adult version of Richie Tozier in It Chapter Two, taking over from Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard.ย

MRC is also set to release the horror comedy The Gallerist, starring Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega, this year, on a slate that also includes The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, The Best Is Yet to Come, and A Place in Hell. Their prior catalogue also included horror titles like The Blackening, as well as the last three Hotel Transylvania films.

They Know has not set a release date. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
