Danny Boyle's highly anticipated 28 Years Later, the long-awaited follow-up to both 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, gets a terrifying new trailer today ahead of its June 20 theatrical release date.
The Alex Garland-penned post-apocalyptic nightmare, which is set to kickstart a brand new trilogy, stars Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Jack O'Connell and Erin Kellyman:
Itโs been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected [โฆ] One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway.
When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.
28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy will be returning to his role as Jim, as well coming onboard as executive producer, but not in 28 Years Later.
Murphy is also not, despite false Internet claims, the emaciated infected who seems to be becoming the new (horrifying) face of the franchise.
As previously reported, the second movie into the trilogy, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, is directed by Nia DaCosta (Candyman), and will follow six months after 28 Years Later. Boyle is also onboard to direct the third as-of-now untitled movie.
The first 28 Years Later trailer broke records upon release last year- will this one do the same? Check it out below and for more on 28 Years Later keep an eye on FANGORIA.
