10 Of The Best Upcoming 4K And Blu-Ray Horror Releases

It might not seem like it now due to the 28 Years Later series reinvigorating the love for Danny Boyle's post-apocalyptic zombie classic, but there was once a time where 28 Days Later was nearby impossible to watch via legitimate means, with old DVD copies going for more than a pretty penny on reselling sites. That all changes now with Sony's brand new 4K Blu-ray release of the film that made Cillian Murphy a star.

To give 28 Days Later a 4K remastering is an extremely ambitious undertaking to say the least, as the majority of the film was shot on a digital camcorder, with its lo-fi grittiness serving as an integral part of the film's identity. According to official press materials, the assembled original source video was used along with the section from original camera negative as used in the original theatrical release. Physical media fiends will want this for their collection out of curiosity's sake alone.

Alex Garland's cosmic horror masterpiece Annihilation deserved a theatrical run upon release in 2018, but alas; watching it on crisp 4K from the comfort of your couch will have to do. In the adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer's novel of the same name, Natalie Portman stars as Lena, a biologist and former solider, who joins a mission to uncover what happened to her husband (Oscar Isaac) inside Area X – a sinister and mysterious phenomenon that is expanding across the American coastline.

André Øvredal's English-language debut comes to 4K for the very first time as Severin Films gives The Autopsy of Jane Doe a shiny new release. Starring Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch, the mortuary-set horror centers on the titular murder victim and the terrifying mysteries that unravel as her body is laid out and sliced open.

Sébastien Vaniçek's Evil Dead Burn brought New French Extremity-tinged pain to what is at this point arguably one of the more consistent horror movie franchises going. Introducing audiences to the most fucked up family this side of the Sawyers, Evil Dead Burn stars Souheila Yacoub as a young widow forced to endure not only her awful in-laws, but the Deadite evil that is unleashed upon them at the wake of her late husband.

Concerning deranged man who was recently released from a psychiatric institution and opens up an ice cream factory where he begins using human flesh in his recipes, Ice Cream Man has gone on to become a cult classic in the years since release.

Neil Jordan's Interview with the Vampire comes home on 4K for the very first time with a brand new SteelBook release from Warner Bros. Starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Kirsten Dunst, Interview with the Vampire adapts Anne Rice's classic novel in which a 200-year-old vampire tells his story – of desire, love, yearning, grief, terror, ecstasy – to a young reporter.

The new release comes with special features including commentary from Jordan, an introduction from Jordan, Anne Rice and star Antonio Banderas, video essays and more.

Toy Robot is the new label from genre giants Arrow Video, and among their first releases is Marshmallow, a hugely underrated indie horror from 2025 that turns the camp slasher genre on its head. The film follows Morgan (Kue Lawrence), an introverted 12-year-old reluctantly sent off to a summer camp, where he is thrust into a living nightmare when a campfire tale about a psychotic doctor becomes real.

Toy Robot's release of Marshmallow comes with an audio commentary with director Daniel DelPurgatorio and stars Lawrence and Kai Cech, behind the scenes footage, deleted scene, and more.

Stewart Hendler's The House on Sorority Row remake slices onto 4K UHD for the first time ever this September via Lionsgate Limited. Starring stars Briana Evigan, Leah Pipes, Rumer Willis, Jamie Chung, and the late great Carrie Fisher, Sorority Row follows a group of sorority sisters who cover up the accidental death of a fellow sister, only to find themselves stalked by a masked killer eight months later.
