IFC Films and MPI Media Group gave Fango the scoop on full details of their DVD release of the well-reviewed British paranormal thriller THE DISAPPEARED. They also sent along cover art for the disc, which streets May 18.

The Dillinger Escape Plan's Jeff Tuttle and Billy Rymer recently stopped by the Fango offices to talk about their new album OPTION PARALYSIS, their love of horror and a host of other topics. Bart Mastronardi is part of the East Coast low-budget horror film community that seems to crank out genre features and shorts about once a month, more often than not with him behind the camera as the DP. His first feature as a writer/director, VINDICATION, was anointed by no less than Clive Barker, and the upcoming DVD release from Big Bite Entertainment/R² Films carries his seal of approval.

Fangoria.com will launch Tony Timpone’s Elegies this week, a brand-new blog where the former Fango magazine editor will metamorphose his long-running FANGORIA editorial page Elegy into a brand-new regular blog for the website. In Elegies, Timpone will write about all things horror, his thoughts on new movies and trends and reminisce about his 25-year stint on the Fango masthead. He will also keep readers updated on the company’s upcoming film and literary projects. Timpone is handing off Fango magazine’s editorial duties to Toronto scribe Chris Alexander with issue #293, on sale April 20. His first blog entry will discuss his transition. While the TWILIGHT films haven’t been the most popular among die-hard Fangorians, we’re holding out hope for a little more, er, bite from ECLIPSE, the third in the series, since it was directed by David Slade, whose last entry into vampire territory was the savage 30 DAYS OF NIGHT. In any case, a new ECLIPSE poster was released today, and you can see it after the jump.

You may have seen a video promotional clip for the British horror film THE DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND playing around the web—but the people behind the movie got in touch with Fango to let us know you weren’t supposed to. The clip was a market promo that was not intended for general viewing, and they’re not happy it’s out there.

You’ve heard of “J-horror,” and may even be burned out on it by now, but a new strain of Asian genre cinema dubbed “I-Horror” is coming from Indian production outfit Pritish Nandy Communications and British sales banner High Point Media.

“The Whitechapel Murderer” will be menacing your consoles, perhaps even this year, as Electronic Arts and developer Visceral Games (DEAD SPACE, DANTE’S INFERNO) will release a new game based on the infamous 19th-century serial killer Jack the Ripper.
