Returning to SHOWTIME on the suitably romantic date of February 14, 2025, Yellowjackets Season 3 gets a fresh batch of first-look stills courtesy of Entertainment Weekly today, as well as some choice snippets from show co-creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson.
The series, which follows a team of high school girls soccer players and their attempts to survive in the wilderness after a devastating plane crash, has proved a huge hit for Showtime, scoring a bunch of Emmy nominations and becoming the second-most streamed series in Showtime's history behind Dexter: New Blood.
The new stills (seen below) show the fallout from the Season 2 death of SPOILERS Juliette Lewis' Natalie, as well as more of Van (Lauren Ambrose) and Taissa's (Tawny Cypress) relationship. Per Nickerson:
One of the things that we have always been trying to play with, but maybe this season even more so is that, as a result of a lot of their experiences, they've obviously put a lot of terrible stuff away, but they're also trying to recapture some of the best of themselves from that time, too. Some of that will be explored through that relationship.
Joining Yellowjackets for its third season are Oscar-winner Hilary Swank and Communityโs Joel McHale. They'll star alongside the ensemble cast which already includes killer names like Melanie Lynskey, Ella Purnell, Christina Ricci, Sophie Thatcher and Jasmin Savoy Brown.
Lyle teases that the connective tissue between these characters will become even more important in the third season:
“One thing that's always been important to us is that the timelines are really interconnected in terms of the characters and the totality of the characters and the consequences of what they went through didn't end in the past.”
Most promisingly for horror fans, Yellowjackets‘ third season isn't holding back on the cannibalism, that was touched upon in Season 2:
“Definitely buckle up this season,” Lyle says. “The cannibalism cat is out of the bag.”
Yellowjackets Season 3 will debut with two episodes on streaming and on demand for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan, before an on-air debut for everyone else on February 16. Check out the new stills below, via EW:
