The truth is out there, and itโ€™s coming to a new streaming service. Fans of The X-Files are in for a treat in the new year: while the series had previously only been available to stream if you had Hulu (or were willing to rent the show episode by episode), the entire show โ€” including the 2016 revival โ€” will soon be available to stream for free.ย

Pluto TV has announced that all eleven seasons of the show, including 218 episodes that encompass the original series as well as the revival, will be available to stream for free starting on January 1, 2026. The show will be available on-demand in its entirety, as well as on one of Plutoโ€™s many linear channels, which will kick off with a complete chronological marathon of the series, followed by weekend marathons curated by the folks at Pluto TV.ย

The X-Files is, of course, not the only horror property to get its own dedicated channel on Pluto TV. They also have channels where you can marathon The Twilight Zone, The Addams Family, and Unsolved Mysteries, among other titles like Star Trek and Doctor Who, as well as a channel dedicated entirely to Universal Monsters, where you can stream classic creature features from the studio that does them the best.ย

With the rest of Christmas break stretching out before us, nowโ€™s the perfect time to take advantage and start the new year off on a perfectly spooky foot with Plutoโ€™s acquisition of The X-Files, especially as it comes ahead of a highly anticipated reboot, helmed by Sinners director and Chainsaw Award winner Ryan Coogler. We know virtually nothing about the new reboot in terms of plot, but we do know that original series creator Chris Carter is involved, and that Coogler has had at least some conversations with Gillian Anderson about returning as Dana Scully โ€” how exciting!

In the meantime, though, once youโ€™ve finished your X-Files binge, Pluto also has plenty of other horror offerings to comb through. Our very own FANGORIA Terror Tuesday offerings are among the horde, a group that also includes films like 28 Days Later, Scream, Poltergeist, Interview With the Vampire, and more.ย

The X-Files hits Pluto TV in its entirety on January 1, 2026.
