It's the most wonderful time of the year for physical media fans, as the festive season is the perfect excuse to fill up that Christmas wishlist with Blu-ray and 4Ks galore. As the boutique labels ramp up their seasonal special deals, there's a ton to choose from for collectors right now, which is only a good thing – but it can be overwhelming, especially if your budget only allows for one or two new treats. Fear not, as we've searched high and low for 10 of the best horror 4K and Blu-ray releases coming this month to make your festive season fantastically frightening.

Alien: Romulus (4K UHD Limited Edition SteelBook) - 20th Century Studios
Fede Alvarez's record-breakingย Alien: Romulus has not only already nabbed itself a sequel but has also potentially set the stage for a futureย Alien vs. Predator redo. Needless to say, the Limited Edition SteelBook is a must-have for fans of the legendary sci-fi horror franchise. This release comes with a number of special features including alternate and deleted scenes, and behind-the-scenes featurettes detailing how the cast and crew bought the horrifying events of the Romulus (and that thing) to life.
The Block Island Soundย (4K UHD + Blu-ray) - Synapse Films
Despite excellent reviews and a creepy, original premise, Kevin and Matthew McManus' Lovecraftian sci-fi horror The Block Island Sound has been pretty overlooked since being released onto Netflix in 2021. Thankfully, Synapse Films is giving it the 4K UHD release it so deserves. Starring Chris Sheffield and Michaela McManus,ย The Block Island Sound follows a fisherman who encounters horrors and dark truths when an ominous force off the coast of Block Island begins killing wildlife. Synapse's release comes with Director's Commentary, behind-the-scenes extras, SFX featurettes and a special limited edition slipcover featuring new art from Joel Robinson.

Creep (Limited Edition Blu-ray, Region free) - Second Sight Films
Withย The Creep Tapes now releasing on Shudder, there's no better time to revisit the very beginning of Patrick Brice and Mark Duplass' cult found footage horror franchise, 2014's Creep. As always with Second Sight, you're not just getting a movie, you're getting a full event. The limited edition Blu-ray set comes with art cards, essays, interviews and deleted scenes, plus new and archive commentaries with Duplass and Brice. Best news of all – the Blu is region-free, so even if you're not in the UK, you can still bring Peachfuzz home.
Creep is now available to pre-order and will be released on December 9.
Immaculateย (4K UHD) - NEON and Decal Releasing
What better to way to celebrate the Christmas season with a movie so blasphemous it sent certain circles of religious Twitter into a blind rage? The 4K UHD release of Michael Mohan's Sydney Sweeney-starringย Immaculate is the perfect stocking stuffer for the woman in your life who is sick of patriarchal institutions dictating what she can and can't do with her own body. The 4K UHD release comes with a bunch of special features, including “Sydney Sweeney watches Immaculate with Real Pastors”, which sounds like it'll be worth the price of admission alone.

Pumpkinheadย (Limited Edition SteelBook 4K UHD and Blu-ray) - Shout Factory
Halloween might be over, butย Pumpkinhead is forever. Shout Factory's 4K restoration of the 1988 cult classic from director Stan Winston comes from a scan of the original camera negative, and comes with a whole host of special features, includingย Pumpkinhead Unearthed, a five-part documentary on the Making Of. There's also interviews with stars Lance Henriksen, John D'Aquino and Brian Bremer, and a bunch of behind-the-scenes footage.
Requiem for a Vampireย (4K UHD Limited Edition) - Powerhouse Films
While often unappreciated in their time, Jean Rollin's vampire films have become renowned for their contributions to the horror genre, with Requiem for a Vampire being a particular highlight in the French director's vast filmography. Powerhouse Films' World Premiere of Requiem for a Vampireย gives the erotic-horror a 4K UHD release it deserves, restored from the original negative for that crisp Dolby Vision glory. Special features include an in-depth documentary on the making of Requiem for a Vampire by Rollinโs personal assistant, Daniel Gouyette, as well as audio commentaries and archived interviews.

Silent Night, Deadly Night (40th Anniversary Edition 4K UHD + Exclusive Paperback Novelization) - Shout Factory
It's simply not Christmas without Silent Night, Deadly Night.ย To celebrate 40 years of Charles Sellier Jr.'s slasher classic, Shout Factory have given the festive frightener a 4K UD upgrade that comes with a 325-pageย a novelization of the film, written by Armando Muรฑoz, based on the screenplay by Michael Hickey, and featuring a cover illustration by Lynne Hansen. Special features include commentaries, interviews and TV spots.
Unfortunately, despite being advertised as 4K UHD, this release is locked to Region A, which means Region B shoppers will need a region-free player to enjoy it.

Sleepย (Blu-ray) - Magnolia Home Entertainment
Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho called the South Korean horror-thrillerย Sleep the smartest debut film he's seen in 10 years, and if you've seen it, you'll certainly agree with him. Starring the late Lee Sun-kyun of Parasite andย Train to Busanโs Jung Yu-mi,ย Sleep follows a young couple whose domestic bliss is shattered when husband Hyun-su (Lee) begins exhibiting unsettling and dangerous behavior in his sleep.
A standard Blu-ray ofย Sleep is now available for pre-order for a December 17 release.
Strange Darlingย (4K UHD + Blu-ray Collector's Edition) - Icon Film Distribution
J. T. Mollner's psychosexual thriller Strange Darling took horror fans by surprise this year with a twist like no other. Starring Kyle Gallner and Willa Fitzgerald, the film follows a man and woman who meet up for a one night stand, only for it to devolve into a cat and mouse game of murder. Icon Film Distrubution's 4K collectorโs editionย includes four collectable art cards, behind the scenes interviews with the cast and crew of the film, original TV spots and trailers for the film, and an A3-sized poster, all in special O-ring packaging.
