Paramount has preemptively picked up a new piece of horror fiction to add to their growing slate of scary movies. Deadline reports that they’ve tapped Enemy writer Javier Gullón to adapt Two Truths and A Lie, a new novella from author Sarah Pinsker, for the big screen, though no director is attached yet.

According to Deadline, Two Truths and A Lie “tells the story of Stella, who was sure she’d made it up — a strange childhood memory of a local TV show with a disturbing host that she and the neighborhood kids supposedly appeared on. But when her old friend and even her mom confirm it happened, she’s left questioning why she has no memory of it. As she begins unraveling the truth behind the broadcast and its lingering presence in her town, the mystery becomes darker and more disturbing.”

It’s giving shades of Mr. Crocket, the horror film that hit Hulu last month, with Pinsker’s Nebula Award winning credentials to back it up. She’s won four of them, as well as two Hugo Awards, and is the author of over sixty works of short fiction, another novel, two novels, and two collections. Her most recent work was Haunt Sweet Home, which hit shelves in September.

Best known for his work on Denis Villeneuve’s psychological thriller Enemy, this is the second project Gullón has been tapped for this year, having recently sold his thriller The Bet to Warner Bros., a “twisty, female-led thriller with pitch-black humor, set at a glittering destination for the ultra-rich.”

Two Truths and A Lie will be produced by Walter Hamada via 18hz, as part of a first look deal that also includes Johannes Roberts’ Primate, a horror film from André Øvredal, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin.
