Rupert Grint (Harry Potter series) and Daisy Ridley (Star Wars series,ย We Bury the Dead) are the latest stars to join Ti West'sย Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, alongside previously announced lead Johnny Depp.
Per Deadline, who reported the news exclusively earlier today, Andrea Riseborough (Possessor), Tramell Tillman (Severance), Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders), Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) and Ellie Bamber (Nocturnal Animals) have also joined the cast alongside the one and only Sir Ian McKellen.
West (X, Pearl, MaXXXine) directs from a script by Nathaniel Halpern, who adapts the classic Dickens Christmas tale of elderly miser Ebenezer Scrooge (Depp). In the supernatural tale, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner and the spirits of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet to Come. Per Deadline, sources say Grint will play the role of Bob Cratchit, Scroogeโs selfless employee, although this has yet to be confirmed.
West's A Christmas Carol may end up going up against Robert Eggers and Warner Bros.' previously announced take on the festive classic, which stars Willem Dafoe as the eponymous Scrooge, although no date has been announced for that one yet. Given that Eggers'ย Werwulf is currently scheduled for a Christmas Day 2026 release, we'll probably miss out on an Armageddon/Deep Impact style box office Scrooge showdown, sadly.
Paramount has datedย Ebenezer for a November 13, 2026 release. Look out for more updates as we get them, and for more, here's all the monster movies we're looking forward to in 2026.
