The truth is out there, and you can find it for free on Pluto TV. The no-cost streaming service is now home to all eleven seasons of The X-Files, and to celebrate, they’re searching for the cult sci-fi show’s ultimate fan. The platform just launched its new “The Fan Is Out There” contest, which will allow one lucky fan to experience the iconic series in a way that no one ever has before.
One lucky winner and their chosen guest will get the chance to disappear into the Joshua Tree desert in California for nine days, to marathon the entire X-files series from beginning to end in a special off-grid facility. The location, where unexplained phenomena have been reported for decades, is designed for “maximum immersion and minimum outside contact fit for the ultimate X-Phile.”
The special installation features a living case board for the winner to track connections and conspiracies across the series, as well as themed provisions like black coffee, sunflower seeds, and paranormal paraphernalia. The winner and their guest will also get the opportunity to film daily on-camera debrief confessionals for all the world to see — once they’ve been declassified, of course.

The X-Files is now available on-demand in its entirety on Pluto TV, as well as on one of its many linear channels, which features special weekend marathons curated by the folks at Pluto TV. The X-Files is, of course, not the only horror property to get its own dedicated channel on Pluto TV though. They also have channels where you can marathon The Twilight Zone, The Addams Family, and Unsolved Mysteries, among other titles like Star Trek and Doctor Who, as well as a channel dedicated entirely to Universal Monsters, where you can stream classic creature features from the studio that does them the best.
“At a moment when conspiracy culture has moved from fringe forums to mainstream discourse, The X-Files lands differently today,” said Pluto’s Will Gurman. “This cult classic pioneered binge-worthy, supernatural storytelling and built one of TV's most passionate fan communities. With the entire series always available and totally free, it's a show you can disappear into for days. This is exactly the kind of deep library comfort viewing Pluto TV was built for.”
Entries for Pluto’s “The Fan Is Out There” contest are open now through March 20 at 11:59PM ET. For more details and to enter for a chance to win, you can check out Pluto’s website.
