Stephen King superfans in Los Angeles have a great opportunity to get up close and personal with the latest adaptation of the horror iconโ€™s work. Beyond Fest has just announced that theyโ€™re partnering with American Cinematheque to host a special screening of The Long Walk at the Egyptian Theatre, with the cast and filmmakers in attendance.

Ahead of the filmโ€™s nationwide release on September 12, Beyond Fest and American Cinematheque are screening the film on September 8 at 8PM PT, with an appearance from stars Mark Hamill, David Jonsson, Judy Greer, Cooper Hoffman, Ben Wang, and Garrett Wareing, as well as screenwriter JT Mollner and producer Roy Lee. The cast and filmmakers will feature in a post-screening Q&A for audiences, moderated by Beyond Festโ€™s Christian Parkes.

โ€œWeโ€™re thrilled to welcome the stars of The Long Walk to Beyond Fest,โ€ said head of programming Evrim Ersoy. โ€œFrancis Lawrence has made an extraordinary and faithful adaptation of the first book Stephen King ever wrote, and the result is a powerful and visceral film thatโ€™s still living in my head. Itโ€™s unforgettable and Iโ€™m looking forward to sharing it with Beyond Fest and American Cinematheque audiences.โ€

The Long Walk, also starring Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, and Josh Hamilton, is directed by The Hunger Gamesโ€™ Francis Lawrence, following a group of young men in a dystopian United states who enter in an annual walking contest. Forced to maintain a speed of at least three miles an hour or risk execution, the contest ends only when one walker remains alive. Itโ€™s one of numerous King adaptations to hit theaters this year, including Mike Flanaganโ€™s The Life of Chuck and Edgar Wrightโ€™s forthcoming The Running Man film.

Tickets for Beyond Festโ€™s screening of The Long Walk are available now on American Cinemathequeโ€™s website
