MGM+ has announced the premiere date for The Institute, with the Stephen King adaptation series set to start on July 13 at 9:00PM ET/PT on MGM+
From executive producer and director of MGM+’s FROM Jack Bender, The Institute stars newcomer Joe Freeman, Ben Barnes (Shadow and Bone), Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), Simone Miller, Jason Diaz, Hannah Galway and Julian Richings.
King himself also executive produced the series, as did Bender, Benjamin Cavell, Gary Barber, Sam Sheridan and Ed Redlich.
Based on the 2019 King novel of the same name, in The Institute, teen genius Luke Ellis (Freeman) is kidnapped and awakens at The Institute, a facility full of children who all got there the same way he did, and who are all possessed of unusual abilities:
In a nearby town, haunted former police officer Tim Jamieson (Barnes) has come looking to start a new life, but the peace and quiet won’t last, as his story and Luke’s are destined to collide.
The Institute joins Max's It prequel series, Welcome to Derry, The Running Man, The Long Walk, Carrie and The Life of Chuck as upcoming King adaptations for fans to get excited about.
