A24 just released a new trailer for its latest horror endeavor, The Front Room. We first shared this one with you in June, it marks the feature directorial debut of the Eggers brothers, Max and Sam. And if you're wondering if there's any relation to Robert Eggers of The Witchย andย The Northman, that's a big yes. Max, Sam, and Robert are, in fact, brothers. Based on a short story by Susan Hill, The Front Room centers on a mother-in-law from hell. Here's the official synopsis:
Everything goes to hell for newly-pregnant Belinda (Brandy) after her mother-in-law (Kathryn Hunter) moves in. As theย diabolical guest tries to get her claws on the child, Belinda must draw the line somewhereโฆ
Now let's take a look at that new trailer:
Religious horror and some absolutely cringe-worthy racism highlighted here! But we're willing to bet it's nothing Brandy can't handle. We can only hope this falls into the “good for her” subgenre by the end. Honestly, we're just really excited to see Brandy Norwood back on the big screen, headlining a horror movie. After her role as Karla Wilson in 1998'sย I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, we'reย stillย waiting on news that she's signed on for the reboot. Fingers crossed!
It also stars Andrew Burnap, Neal Huff, and Kathryn Hunter. The Front Room may be Sam and Max Eggers' feature directorial debut, but they're no strangers to the business. Sam previously wrote 2018โsย Olympiaย while working on the crew forย The Witch,ย and Max co-wrote The Lighthouse, directed by Robert Eggers.
The Front Room is in theaters September 6, 2024.
