If thereโs one film that changed the landscape of horror cinema forever, itโs The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year, Tobe Hooperโs terrifying film of what happens when a group of teens break down in cannibal country solidified everything we know and love about the slasher film, and created arguably the genreโs most iconic killer ever in Leatherface. Now, to celebrate fifty years of a gory classic, fans will be able to visit one of its most iconic locations for a weekend full of fright.
Hooperโs Restaurant, an eatery located in the iconic house from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, is inviting fans on the weekend of October 25 for a unique set of experiences themed around the film. Kicking off on Friday, Hooperโs will be hosting live music and a film-themed walking tour, as well as raffles and a vendor market featuring exclusive merchandise and various horror themed goodies.
Saturday is where the real terror kicks off though, as Hooperโs invites original cast members Ed Guinn, Teri McMinn, John Dugan, Bill Vail, Ed Neal, and Allen Danziger back into the fold. All six stars will be signing autographs and taking photos, and Sunday will also feature a performance from Roger Bartlett, whose song โFool for a Blondeโ has been associated with Leatherface and his family for half a century now.
And of course, it wouldnโt be a celebration of the film without a screening, which will be held outdoors on Hooperโs property, as well as a costume contest for both kids and adults. Tickets star at $50 USD for adults and $20 USD for kids, with sponsored lodging options also available.
Hooperโs is, of course, named after the iconic filmmaker behind the franchise, having been renamed in 2023 after the building was acquired by new owners, including Taco Flats owner Simon Madera. It was a sight for sore eyes to see the property truly appreciated by its new owners after fears that whoever purchased the property would rebuke the horror fans who flock to the location to relive their favorite slasher moments.
Hooperโs Texas Chain Saw Massacre celebration will take place the weekend of October 25, 2024. For more information on the event and where to buy tickets, fans can visit Hooperโs website.
