Taking advantage of the fact that everyone's got camp slashers on the brain today as it'sย Friday the 13th, MUBI has unveiled a first look at meta-slasherย Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, the latest feature from I Saw the TV Glow director Jane Schoenbrun that officially hits theaters on August 7.

Starring Hacks star Hannah Einbinder and The X-Files legendย Gillian Anderson, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma follows a queer filmmaker hired to direct a new installment of a long-running slasher franchise. The director fixates on the prospect of casting the โ€˜final girl โ€˜from the original movie, and the two women descend into a frenzy of psychosexual mania. The pic has previously been described as “Portrait of a Lady on Fire set in a Friday the 13th sequel”. Sign us up.

Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment produced the pic, with Mubi financing and distributing the film in North America, Latin America, the U.K., Ireland, Germany, Austria, Benelux, Turkey, India, Australia, and New Zealand.

Previously, Schoenbrunย had this to say of their third feature:

โ€œI make movies I wish existed when I was a kid [โ€ฆ] Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is my best attempt at the โ€˜sleepover classicโ€™: an insane yet cozy midnight odyssey that beckons to unsuspecting viewers from the horror section at the local video store. I couldnโ€™t be more excited to be heading to sleepaway camp this summer with the mad comic genius Hannah Einbinder, the legendary Gillian Anderson, and the daring folks at Mubi and Plan B, who by greenlighting this movie have summoned a plague-like flood of blood, guts, and various other fluids to rain down on us all.โ€

Today's new looks at Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, shared via MUBI's official Instagram account (see below), doesn't reveal a whole lot of anything about the horror other than it seems to be a nod toย I Saw the TV Glow with a literal glowing television in the dark, and the ominous caption ‘If it gets too real, you can just turn it off.' The next post shows someone walking into a cinema in a gorgeous, snowy landscape and a caption referencing alternate universes. The third post (our personal favorite) gives a glimpse of the Jason Voorhees-esque slasher maniac's weapon of choice, which looks like a harpoon.

Look out for more on Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. For more, here's all the other horror movies we're excited for still to come in 2026.
