Halloween star Scout Taylor-Compton is back behind the camera for the upcoming horror film, Survive: The Game, which has officially found its cast.
Per Deadline, which reported the news earlier today, Olivia Holt (Heart Eyes), Jaimie Alexander (Thor), and Rohan Campbell (Silent Night, Deadly Night, Below) will star in the pic, currently filming in Spain.
Taylor-Compton directs from a script co-written by Michael Kennedy (Freaky, It's a Wonderful Knife). An official synopsis for Survive: The Game (which is giving us evil Jumanji vibes) reads:
“When a group of friends unearth an ancient board game inside a secluded cabin with a violent past, each roll of the dice brings a deadly fate to life, and the only way to survive is to finish the game.”
Randy Wayne and Talia Bella of Rebellium Films produce Survive: The Game, with Taylor-Compton and Tom O’Connell for Building Blocks Productions. Amy Covell of Red Phoenix Productions also produces, with executive producers including Leire Apellaniz of Sr. y Sra., Mark Albela, Michael Kennedy, and Dauntless Productions.
In a new statement, Taylor-Compton reflects on how her time playing Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie's Halloween reboot duology influenced Survive: The Game:
“I’ve played the final girl. I spent years learning what it takes to survive a horror movie: the running, the screaming, the moment you finally turn around and fight […] With Survive: The Game, I wanted to ask a different question. What if the thing chasing you isn’t outside the door? What if surviving means confronting the worst version of yourself first?”
Taylor-Compton isn't the only Halloween alum getting ready to play in Survive: The Game, of course: Campbell broke out with horror fans in 2022 as Corey Cunningham in David Gordon Green's divisive trilogy capper, Halloween Ends.
Holt is also about to become a horror franchise staple, as Josh Ruben's Heart Eyes, also written by Kennedy, recently secured a sequel set for release in 2028.
According to Deadline, production sees Survive: The Game as also having “franchise potential”, meaning we could be seeing even more from this team up of horror heavyweights. Stay tuned.
