Filmmaker and Fango alum Rebekah McKendry (Glorious) returns with her fourth Sundown, and ahead of its World Premiere at the 79th Locarno Film Festival on August 13, and we're excited to bring you some first look images today.
Olwen Fouéré (The Watchers), Camille Sullivan (Shelby Oaks), and Summer H. Howell (Mike Flanagan's Carrie) star in Sundown, which is described as a feminist tale of survival and supernatural horror. The film follows three generations of women who reunite in a remote cabin to avenge a loved one’s death, only to discover their captive isn’t who he seems to be and his family is closing in, waiting for (you guessed it) sundown.
McKendry directs from a script by Joshua Hull and David Ian McKendry, the trio who previously collaborated on cosmic horror glory hole head fuck Glorious.
Daniel Bernhardt (John Wick, Deathstalker), David Alpay (From), Kyle Mac, Elisa Paszt, David Ian McKendry, Megan Best and Junko Bailey also star.
Behind the camera, Sundown features special effects makeup from Patrick Baxter, and other effects from Creature Cabin and Steven Kostanski’s Action Pants FX (Psycho Goreman, The Void), with Guns N’ Roses legend Slash executive producing via his BerserkerGang label alongside Michael Vasicek, Michael Da Silva, and Rodrigo Gudiño.
Pasha Patriki (Deathstalker), Michael Paszt, Andrew Thomas Hunt, & James Fler of Raven Banner (V/H/S/94, Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon) and Juliette Hagopian (Hunter Hunter) produce.
Previously, here's what McKendry had to say of Sundown and the intense shoot:
“Sundown was an incredible experience, from my amazing cast and producers to my DP and our fantastic crew […] This film means a great deal to me, exploring the generational divide between three strong women confronting monsters both real and psychological. Even when we were running through the snow in -25 weather, the shoot was wonderful and unforgettable. I can’t wait to share it with the world.”
