If you clicked on this article, itโs probably because you thought to yourself, โWait, Disney and Saw, that seems like an odd combination. What gives?โ Well, that may be true but it is, indeed, also true that the first seven Saw movies are available to stream on Disney+ as we speak. To be perfectly clear, itโs not all Disney+ subscribers, just those who also subscribe to Hulu as part of one of Disneyโs streaming bundles. That said, that includes millions of customers so itโs not a small number of people by any means who can now enjoy the R-rated, ultra-violent goodness that these films have to offer.ย
Hulu currently has Saw, Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI and Saw 3D, aka Saw: The Final Chapter, available to stream right now. Because Disney recently made efforts to streamline its streaming business, Hulu offerings have been combined into the Disney+ app for subscribers who have access to both services. As a result, John Kramerโs very specific brand of carnage is now streaming right alongside the likes of Hocus Pocus and Under Wraps. The eye-popping nature of this truth was even acknowledged by the official Saw Twitter account.ย

The only films not currently available for subscribers are 2017โs Jigsaw, 2021โs Spiral: From the Book of Saw and last yearโs Saw X. Lionsgate controls the franchise and since Starz is their only streaming outlet, it makes sense for them to license movies elsewhere to maximize their value. It seems the studio didnโt want to make a bulk deal for all ten films, or perhaps they couldnโt for contractual reasons.ย
This was always part of the issue that Disney was going to have to contend with when the company purchased Fox back in 2019. Disney has historically been a family-friendly company and they have an image to maintain. Franchises like Alien and Predator donโt always fit into that equation. Having Hulu separate from Disney+ allowed them to maintain some of those lines. However, as the streaming wars have evolved, it has made sense to combine those offerings to make things easier on consumers. But every action has consequences, so here we are.ย
As for the future of Jigsaw on the big screen, Lionsgate is currently putting together Saw XI, which will see Kevin Greutert returning to the directorโs chair. Plot details for the film are being kept totally under wraps but Tobin Bell returned as John Kramer in Saw X because it was a prequel taking place between the first two films. Itโs possible Lionsgate could do something similar to get Bell back for one last ride. Weโll see how it shakes out.ย
Head on over to Disney+ or Hulu to stream the Saw films as you please. For more, be sure to check out our breakdown of Jigsawโs most merciful traps in the series.ย
